| Details | | Intrepid Travel | | | | Day | Destination | Description | | Day 1 | Havana | In a world of colonial buildings, elegant plazas, vintage cars and cigar-smoking musicians, the best way to explore is by foot. Visit the Plaza de la Revolucion and pass giant monuments to legends Che Guevara and Jose Marti. La Catedral San Cristobal de la Habana, described as 'music set in stone', is a must-see. | | Days 2-3 | Vinales | Tour the vibrant orchid gardens of Soroa en route to Vinales, a charming rural village. One of Cuba's most attractive areas, the fertile valleys and distinctive limestone 'pin-cushion' hills of the region are well worth exploring. Mix with the friendly Vinales locals who love nothing better than to dance the night away. | | Day 4 | Cienfuegos | This important port has many sights clustered around Parque Jose Marti, including the Casa de la Cultura Benjamin Duarte, where it's possible to climb a tower for stunning coastal views. Visit the Palacio del Valle, the architectural pride of Cienfuegos. Why not make a point to try some of Cuba's excellent coffee here? It's strong, black and super-sweet. | | Days 5-6 | Trinidad | Take some time to explore the great Spanish-style churches of Trinidad on the way to Playa Ancon, a white sandy beach where many hours will no doubt slip lazily by. Don a snorkel to take a peek at Cuba's underwater world or hire a bike for a relaxing pedal around town. See an Afro-Cuban folklore show in the evening. | | Days 7-8 | Havana | Stop in at Santa Clara to visit the Che Guevara mausoleum and memorial to learn about Che's amazing life - be sure to see the impressive bronze statue of him bearing his rifle. Back in Havana, there is time for a final night of salsa. |
