From the world-renowned Masai Mara and the vast open plains of the Serengeti to the stunning lakes of the Great Rift Valley and the dramatic scenery of the Ngorongoro Crater the opportunities for wildlife viewing are endless. Although dirt roads and basic accommodation may not be something you're used to, the marvellous sights and sounds you'll encounter on this journey make it all worthwhile.

Afterwards, journey to Lake Nakuru National Park to witness the magical sight of a thousand pink flamingos in flight. Keep your eyes on the land as well, as the acacia forests fringing the lake is a habitat that attracts many mammals. Giraffes feed on the trees and waterbucks or rhinos might come down to the lake for water. | | Days 3-4 | Lake Naivasha | Enjoy the abundant birdlife of Lake Naivasha or take an optional walking safari in Hell's Gate National Park. | | Day 5 | Loita Hills | Camp among a local tribe in the heart of Masai country and learn about the lives of these red-robed warriors. | | Days 6-7 | Masai Mara | The rivers and plains of this world-famous game reserve swarm with predators like leopards and lions. Herbivores also dot the plains, and sightings of elephants, gazelles and zebras are common. | | Day 8 | Narok | Make full use of the hotel pool and bar or head into town to mingle with the many Masai people that live around here. | | Day 9 | Kisii | With a new crew and vehicle, head west across the Great Rift Valley to the town of Kisii, surrounded by miles of tea plantations. | | Day 10 | Lake Victoria | Appreciate the solitude of a night spent on the shores of Africa's largest lake. | | Days 11-12 | Serengeti National Park | Hunting is best done at dusk, so embark on a sunset safari across the Serengeti's golden grasses in hope of seeing cheetahs, leopards and other iconic African animals. Camp within the Serengeti National Park boundaries and drift off to sleep listening to the sounds of nocturnal African animals. | | Day 13 | Ngorongoro Crater | Two million years old, the Olduvai Gorge is where early man first made his home. | | Day 14 | Mto Wa Mbu | Venture out in 4WDs armed with lots of film - with 30,000 resident animals, the Ngorongoro Crater floor is a photographer's dream. This is one of the best places to spot endangered black rhinos. Descend the slopes of the volcano massif to Mto Wa Mbu to browse the markets in this sleepy town. | | Day 15 | Nairobi | On return to Nairobi, kick back and enjoy the cafe culture. |
